Volvo Cars Brisbane North Player of the Month – February

In News, Player of the Month

We have fantastic football players in our club and pride ourselves with the culture we have created on a foundation of excellence.

It is this culture that drew Volvo Cars Brisbane North to partner with Brisbane City Football Club.  Part of the partnership was to celebrate our hard-working, passionate, encouraging and team focused players with a monthly award decided by our BCFC coaches.

Volvo Cars Brisbane North General Manager Neil Marshall was intent on ensuring that this award isn’t just for on-field performance but was to be awarded specifically for the characteristics that match the values of Volvo Cars Brisbane North.

Janita Dalcon, Neil Marshall, Billy Neilson and Glenn Neilson.

“Teamwork, leadership, encouragement and support for each other are important for myself, our business and I also believe these are important for any young athlete. We are happy to partner with Brisbane City FC in celebrating young footballers who display these attributes”.

For the month of February, club coaches selected Under 13’s NPL Left-Centre Back Billy Nielson as Junior Player of the Month.

Billy moved from Olympic at the end of the Skills Acquisition Program to join BCFC’s U13 NPL team and quickly found his place both in the team and Club.

Billy’s Coach Nic De Jong shared his thoughts about Billy.

“Billy has been a regular performer for the U13’s NPL team. He has become a natural leader in the group and was crucial in driving the team tasks over the last few weeks.”

“Billy was voted by his peers as the team’s Captain last month. He has already shown plenty of maturity over the last few weeks with how he conducts himself within the team environment and as an individual. Well done Billy, keep up the good work. “

According to Billy’s father, Glenn Nielson, the move to BCFC has been a positive one.

“BCFC offers terrific coaches, a family-friendly culture and a development pathway for young players,” Glenn said.

“Billy is surrounded by positive, caring and experienced coaches and a team of highly talented boys who have shown good character both on and off the field.”

“Billy has fitted so easily into the team and through the support of his coaches, team mates and Club, he is certainly enjoying his football. All I have to do is get him to training and BCFC does the rest,” he said.

“ As a parent, I’m thankful for all the opportunities the club offers to players like Billy.”

Congratulations Billy and good luck for the rest of the season!
