Newmarket Bowls Club Training Facility Update
Today marked a historic milestone for the Club and its players, coaches, parents and supporters as we finally turned the soil at our new complex, The Newmarket Bowls Club. With the help of local and state governments plus our wonderful sponsors at Brisbane City, we were able to kick off this project today with Councillors Steve Toomey, Andrew Wines and representatives from Communify, the Brisbane City Council, the BCFC Board and our coaching staff.
As previously communicated, this will add 6000 m2 to our training field space which will lower the current overload on our fields and assist us to improve field quality (weather permitting). The construction timeline is expected to be around 10 – 12 weeks inclusive of lighting.
As you are aware, this addition to our field capacity is sorely needed as we move into 2020 Season Planning. As a parental Board, we thank all players and parents for their patience as we’ve worked through this long approvals and planning process over 3 years. Delays with this project, weather and water issues have compounded this year to challenge our Coaches, Players and Parents along with the quality of our programs at times due to logistical issues. We are looking forward to a positive 2020.
In particular, the Board wishes to thank Daniel Clarke (Parent of Nic Clarke in the 16’s NPL) for his tireless work on this project. Dan is pictured here turning the soil today with Cnr Toomey and Wines.
