Full Time with Nick Green
First Half was really disappointing in a way. We looked at the threat that they might pose, certainly through the middle of pitch. We didn’t deal with it at all first half. But we made a couple of personal changes for the second half and just spoke about a couple of roles and responsibilities from a couple of the lads and we saw a big improvement. Sometimes in football it’s the tale of two halves really.
First half carried a few too many players, second half we
showed a lot of character and that grit and resilience we really want to instil
in the group. You can’t concede three goals and expect to win games. We set
ourselves an enormous task but we always knew if we got that second goal early
in the second half, we spoke about the first 10-15 minutes being crucial and that
we would give ourselves a chance.
I think we created enough opportunities, it was a little bit to and fro towards the back end. Disappointed we didn’t nik that third goal really in the end but at the end of the day it’s not a season defining game. It’s disappointing but we have a quick turnaround in games.
For me personally, I need to see character in the group, and I need to see leadership. Although it was disappointing in the first half it’s how you bounce back from that and we saw a reaction. It is really important we take the positives out of the game, as well as the defects.
We have a game coming up on Saturday. I think it’s important now that people are fighting for shirts. You can see how disappointed the lads are with the game. Some of the goals conceded were disappointing, which was pretty uncharacteristic of the boys of recent weeks, but sometimes in football, that happens.
