FFA Cup – Round 4 – Brisbane City Vs Gold Coast United

 In FFA Cup, News

Football Queensland has announced the matchups for round 4 of the FFA Cup with Brisbane City hosting NPL outfit Gold Coast United in their first FFA cup match for the 2019 season.

This will be the first time Brisbane City has ever faced another NPL side in the 4th round of the FFA Cup.

Gold Coast United’s 2018 FFA Cup campaign was closed by cross-city rivals Gold Coast Knights in Round 5. Whilst Brisbane City progressed to the 7th round of the 2018 FFA cup, with a loss to Olympic FC. Strong wins for Brisbane City against Gold Coast United last season with 5-2 away and 5-1 home wins, gives confidence to the side to replicate their prior performances.

This will be the first time that Gold Coast United have played at CTM Stadium this year and we will be looking to the stands for support as Brisbane’s best football fans rally the sky blues to kick off their FFA Campaign with a win.

Gold Coast United have had an impressive start to the NPL season sitting in 5th on 13 points. We believe they will be full of confidence as they travel up the M1 to start their FFA Cup campaign.

Brisbane City FC Head Coach Nick Green had this to say about the match. “I’m delighted we have a home draw in round 4 of the FFA cup. Its a superb opportunity to play at home in the early stages for the players, and we hope this draw will help generate good interest amongst young players, families and supporters of the Club. Looking back to the run we had last season and the following we had for the terrific game against Olympic, we wish to gather some early momentum in the Cup and try to navigate our way into the draw for round 5.”

Dates and times for the match will be released by the FFA soon.
