FFA Cup Fourth Qualification Round

 In News

The date for Brisbane City’s FFA Cup Fourth Qualification Round tie against Capalaba has been confirmed by the FQPL club.

City will head to John Fredericks Park, Capalaba for the clash on Tuesday 10th April as John Kosmina’s side look to register just their second ever win in the competition. Kick off for the tie is at 7:45pm.

Capalaba are currently sitting in 3rd spot on the Football Queensland Premier League table, having won four of their six games so far, suffering defeat only to Souths United and Rochedale Rovers, although one of those defeats was at John Fredericks Park on Tuesday (3-0 against Souths United).

The tie comes at a difficult time for John Kosmina’s men, sandwiched between two massive derby matches in the NPL Queensland against Brisbane Strikers and Olympic, a series of matches that will sincerely test John Kosmina’s squad.

City have twice lost to lower league opposition in the FFA Cup qualifying rounds, both times against Logan Lightning (in 2014 and 2017).

City were disappointed last time they played in the FFA Cup, being defeated by Logan on a night of high drama at Corporate Travel Management Stadium.

City’s other defeats came against Brisbane Strikers (4-1) in 2015 and Redlands United in 2016. That year City registered their first win in the competition, a 2-0 derby victory over Mitchelton.

Capalaba have never defeated NPL opposition in the FFA Cup, losing on their two previous attempts to Strikers (2014) and Moreton Bay United (2016)

Last year, Capalaba came from behind to record a 2-1 victory over North Star before being knocked out by Logan Lightning, who would of course go on to conquer City in the next round.
