Captain’s Call with Sam Sibatuara
We caught up with Brisbane City FC’s Senior NPL Captain Sam Sibatuara after Brisbane City’s 5 – 0 win over Western Pride
Q: Your thoughts on the game tonight.
A: It was a good result. It was a great reward for the hard work we have been putting in. We have been putting in the time and effort, training on public holidays, early in the morning. We are grinding and are coming together well.
The last 3 to 4 games we have really shown that we can be in the top four and potentially fight for the title.
Q: A short turn around and a road trip, how are you feeling about playing SWQ Thunder this weekend?
We are used to the short turn arounds. We have had a couple of games recently where we have only had 3 to 4 days to rest and regroup. Nothing different in approach. We will come back on Thursday and work on the stuff we are good at, keeping the ball, passing and mixing it up a bit. It [Toowoomnba] isn’t an easy place to go. It’ll be cold up there yet I’m confident we will get the job done.
Q: Your back four and keeper were lights out tonight, what are your thoughts on the defensive guys at the moment?
I think the back four have really come together as a group, off the field as well. Actually, we all are growing quite tight. The back four and Jake have been amazing. We also have great backups on the bench as well. everyone is fighting for their spot, everyone is working hard and looking forward to this weekend.
Brisbane City head up the range to play SWQ Thunder in Toowoomba on Saturday afternoon. Kick off is at 5pm at Clive Berghofer Stadium.
