Brisbane City FC spread Christmas cheer with Camp Quality

Brisbane City have worked to spread some Christmas cheer this holiday season by visiting children affected by cancer at the Queensland Children’s Hospital, with the assistance of Camp Quality.

Senior team coach John Kosmina, along with first team players Adam Edgar and Kye Bolton joined Club Technical Director Tom Laxton in visiting the Queensland Children’s Hospital earlier this week.

Camp Quality are a children’s cancer charity who provide a support network for families of children who are affected by cancer, and

The squad members visited children on the wards, delivering presents which included football’s signed by the 2019 first team squad.

Tom said that the getting the chance to help bring some cheer to children who are in hospital during the holiday period was hugely important to both the players and the club as a whole.

“It was great for Kye and Adam to come with Kozzy and I to meet the kids at the Queensland Children’s Hospital,” Tom said.

“Miguel from Camp Quality guided us around the ward and we gave some gifts to the kids who are staying there, so close to Christmas.

“They all knew about the club and we even had some players of the game in our local clubs there so we offered them all the chance to come and have a kick around with us in 2019 or to watch some games.”

Tom added that being able to give something back to the community was incredibly humbling.

“For our senior players it is great for them to give something back to our community – we all want the City of Brisbane and Queensland to be proud of us as we strive to be a club that people can be connected to, no matter their background or situation.

“It was a humbling experience to see the kids happy and loving the footballs we had signed from the first team.

“Camp Quality do a really amazing job, and if anyone has a child affected by cancer then I would strongly recommend getting in touch with Miguel for the amazing services and help they can provide.”

In addition to visiting the Queensland Children’s Hospital, a number of Brisbane City first team players did their bit by wrapping Christmas presents at a local shopping centre, the proceeds of which also went to Camp Quality.

Brisbane City wishes all of its members and supporters a merry Christmas and a prosperous new year.
