Brisbane City FC is pleased to announce further expansion of its MyCity Programs with the signing of an agreement with southside club, Mt Gravatt Hawks FC.

The partnership between the clubs stemmed from a shared focus of player development and a common vision of growing the game across South East Queensland.

Part of the agreement will see Mt Gravatt Hawks and Dittmer Park become a significant area of focus in Brisbane south for Brisbane City’s talent ID program.

The MyCity program director Nic de Jong congratulated Mt Gravatt Hawks for having the forward thinking and commitment to youth development and providing opportunity for young players in their local community to improve their overall level of football on and off the field.

“Brisbane City is very proud to join Mt Gravatt Hawks in this collaboration for 2019, it’s an exciting time for both clubs,” Nic said.

“Mt Gravatt Hawks do a fantastic job, and I believe with this collaboration Brisbane City is thrilled to be able to provide a very visible pathway for Hawks players who want to progress through to the next level.”

“By supporting the Hawks, hopefully one day we will be playing them in the NPL by providing coach education, football program development as well as club governance and services.”

Part of the agreement will see the Hawks becoming a focused area on Brisbane’s southside for talent ID for Brisbane City in 2019, which the Hawks hope will attract talented local players that wish to be mentored by some of Brisbane’s best coaches.

Mark Brittain, President of Mt Gravatt Hawks said: “Both clubs have a proud history of producing top players from around Brisbane.

The clubs share similar values and philosophies on coach and player development and it was a no brainer to create a partnership with what we see as potentially the next Brisbane Hyundai A-League club.”

The partnership will create many opportunities for players and coaches to improve the overall standard of football in Brisbane. The agreement will commence with immediate effect with many more exciting announcements to come.
